Massage Services

Pregnancy creates significant physiological, structural, psychological, relational and spiritual changes in a woman's life. Massage therapy and other somatic practices are particularly effective forms of adjunctive healthcare during this time and offer a wide range of benefits to both mother and baby including:

  • stress reduction and relaxation, reduced fear and anxiety
  • circulatory benefits assist to reduce edema (swelling), blood pressure and heart and respiratory rate
  • reduction of musculoskeletal strain and pain as the added weight gain and size of baby creates stress and compression in joints, muscles and ligaments
  • body and tension awareness help to prepare you for labor and more actively participate in the process. In order to give birth with less effort a woman's back, abdomen, and pelvic floor must remain relaxed to allow the uterus to labor without resistance.
  • Postpartum massage can assist in bringing the body back into balance and alignment and relieve tension created by new habits of holding and feeding a newborn.
